SINOPSYS
In the dimly lit caverns of the Avan salt mine, a doctor instructs her patients to jump and move their arms, following daily routines that are part of their treatment. In this magically strange world, the mineral-rich air of the mine is supposed to cure respiratory problems, a theory that comes from the ancient Greeks who also believed in the therapeutic qualities of salt mines. The young Armenian-born director Hovig Hagopian spent days filming this impressive location and the activity of this unique underground clinic. An air of magical realism pervades the impressive atmospheric images of the site: a walk through excavated, fluorescent-lit tunnels, a ping-pong table in what appears to be a natural grotto and a cave turned waiting room make up this fascinating shadowy, therapeutic underground realm.
