BARQ Festival, the competitive international architecture and interior design film festival in Barcelona, breaks ground.
The BARQ Festival – International Architecture Film Festival Barcelona, celebrates its first edition from May 11th to May 16th 2021, which will take place onsite in the city of Barcelona and online during the Barcelona Architecture Week.
The BARQ Festival is the only film festival dedicated to architecture and interior design in Spain and it is an initiative of Nihao Films with the support of Fundació Mies van der Rohe, Arquin-FAD, and the Architects’ Association of Catalonia – COAC.
It is a cultural, playful and reflectional event, three conditions that give the festival great potential to become a relevant cinematic event attracting strong interest and the ability to transfer debates to society.

BARQ FESTIVAL IS A FILM FESTIVAL DEDICATED TO DEEPEN THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE FIRST AND THE SEVENTH ART. CINEMA USES ARCHITECTURE TO SHOW AND CREATE WORLDS EXPLORING SOCIAL REALITIES, AND ARCHITECTURE USES CINEMA TO REACH THE WHOLE OF SOCIETY.
BARQ Festival will include an extensive program with films from all over the world and various parallel activities. It will attach particular value to those films that through architecture display, in an innovative way, current themes such as urban activism, politics, economy, the environment, territorial, cultural and social diversity, housing, coexistence and equal rights among people.
The quality, originality and technical and artistic solidity of the productions will be prioritized, as well as being unreleased in Spain or that they have not been released commercially.
